Manuscript Evaluation

A manuscript evaluation is like a developmental edit, but faster, lighter, and without the scene-by-scene deep dive (aka no line-by-line notes!). It gives you clear, professional feedback on the big-picture stuff: plot, structure, character arcs, pacing, tension, world-building, and more - without overwhelming you with every single line.

This is perfect if you have a finished draft, maybe revised it a few times, and feel stuck or unsure about the big picture. Think of it as a professional roadmap for your story, actionable insights that show you what’s working, what needs a tweak, and what might need a little more love, so you can move forward with confidence.

Manuscript Evaluation In Progress

Once I receive your manuscript, I will read through it one time from start to finish to get the full picture of your story. Then, I create a detailed editorial report with my notes, observations, and suggestions on the big-picture elements like plot, structure, pacing, characters, tension, and world-building.

The report is usually 10–20 pages, giving you clear, actionable feedback without overwhelming you with line-by-line comments.

It may include:

  • Cover Letter

  • Editorial Letter

  • Table of Contents (so you can easily navigate)

  • Big-picture Analysis

After you receive the report, I recommend taking a little time to read through it and digest the feedback. Then, if you want, we can schedule a Zoom call to go over any questions, clarify recommendations, and make sure you feel confident moving forward with your revisions.

This approach gives you professional insight into your manuscript’s strengths and areas to improve, without the intensity of a full developmental edit.
